    Description

    VINTAGE AMOCO AMERICAN OIL COMPANY
    WHITE HARD HAT, ADJUSTABLE STRAPS
MADE BY MSA MINE SAFETY APPLIANCES CO, PENN.
    COMPLIES WITH 1969 CLASS A & 1971 CLASS B
    SAFETY STANDARDS
This is a vintage white plastic V-Gard protective hard hat with the AMOCO (American Oil Company) logo. It was manufactured by Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to comply with ANSI 1969 Class “A” and ANSI 1971 Class “B” safety requirements for industrial head protection.
It has adjustable straps to sizes 6 ½ thru 7 ¾. I believe the white hard hats were used by the AMOCO foremen. (The MSA V-Gard helmet was first released in 1962.)
The hard hat is in used condition. The AMOCO logo label is in good condition with no fading or peeling. The red and blue stripes have no peeling but do have a yellow residue spot. The shell is in good condition but has some yellowing all around.
The outside V-shaped top has wear and scratches.
The inside plastic is in very good condition with no yellowing and the adjustable plastic straps, suspension ribbons and rubber lined forehead cushion are all supple and intact with no peeling or cracking. The safety and warning labels are clear and readable but have a few marred spots.
