This card was purchased in Amsterdam, Netherlands by my friend, Lotje. She scours all the great cities of Europe for unusual and beautiful vintage and antique postcards.
This postcard was shipped from The Netherlands to the USA by Lotje.
On the front of this beautiful vintage postcard is a sepia portrait of an elderly lady working on some needlework. Over her lap is a little boy who she probably recently spanked.  Next to her chair is a Smooth Jack Russell Terrier.
Under the portrait is a caption in Dutch that loosely translates to:   "
A stitch in time avoids a big hole
".   On the back is a pencilled address in the Netherlands and a faded postmark.  The postcard was originally made in the Netherlands.  My guess is that this postcard dates back to about the 1940s.
Measurements are approximately: 3.5" x 5.5" so this is a standard size postcard.   Aside from very few small signs of surface wear, this card is still easy to see and appreciate!
